Why singing?

In all cultures around the world we find people singing together in communion either as a means to connect, pure enjoyment or spiritual practice. No matter why you do it, it is healthy! The main key for a healthy body and mind is relaxation. Singing and meditation are powerfull tools to directly access the vagusnerve which activates the parasympathetic nervous system, the conductor of relaxation. Many clients find their voice for the first time because old blockages are released which leads to more confidence and happiness. Releasing blockages is a major part of our healing process! Studies found that singing can decrease the stress hormone cortisol, increase immunoglobulin A (an antibody your body secretes to help you fend off infections) and improve lung function. Further the practice of music helps you to get out of your thoughts because you need to focus your awareness 100% on what you do. This can improve other areas of your life as well!
So by singing or making music in general we become our own scientist to explore the mystery of existence and creation itself!

Nada Brahma or „sound is god“ is the foundation of ancient vedic spirituality which acknowledges vibration as the core of all physical and non-physical reality. Brahma the absolute reality said : „I am one, but may I become many?” This thought created a vibration that settled into a sound. This sound was AUM. The creation of the world began with this vibration – AUM.
Siddartha Gauthama (Buddha) realized that even the most tiny subatomic particles (kalapas) are nothing but energy vibrating in a certain speed or frequency. Even quantum physics points out that 99,99999% of atoms is empty space, which makes matter much more questionable than we might think.

Indian vocal exercises (sargam)

India has one of the most developed and oldest music systems on this planet which dates back more than 3000 years. Like the solfeggio system India has an ancient tradition of vocalizing musical notes by using syllables of each notes' name. These syllables are:
SA-RE-GA-MA-PA-DHA-NI-SA
All these notes have their unique sound in relation to the main note SA or the key in which we choose to sing or play. Some of these intervals can be changed which leads to infinite note combinations or scales. By learning these universal intervals you will get to know how most music around the world is structured and it will help you to understand melodies from different genres easily.
By practicing multiple note combinations you will become more fluent and free in expressing music with your voice or instrument.

Another powerful language you will get to know is the rhythmic vocalization of sounds of ancient indian drums which helps you to understand the basic rhythmic foundation of all types of music and helps to improve the immune system.
Rhythm is life!
